Atlanta Shoe Market Show Updates & Info


Now that the December show is over, preparations are in full force for our first show of 2013!  It will take place on February 23-25, 2013 at the Cobb Galleria Centre & Renaissance Waverly Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia.

SESTA Partners With Non-Profits


At Southeastern Shoe Travelers Association, we promote the best interests and welfare of our members but we also promote the best interest of people, especially those in need in the United States and around the world.  Since we are an organization whose core is everything shoes, it makes sense to partner with shoe related non-profit organizations who strive to enrich the lives of people in need.

One of those organizations is the Soles4Souls Charity.  Their goal is to change the world – one pair at a time!  Soles4Souls is a Nashville-based charity that collects shoes from the warehouses of footwear companies and the closets of people like you. 

The charity distributes these shoes to people in need, regardless of race, religion, class, or any other criteria.  Since 2005, Soles4Souls has delivered over 19 million pairs of new and gently worn shoes. The shoes have been distributed to people in over 125 countries, including Kenya, Thailand, Nepal and the United States.  Currently they are accepting donations to help people suffering from Hurricane Sandy.

We also partner with the Two Ten Footwear Foundation. Two Ten is a charitable foundation offering Financial Assistance, Counseling, Community Resources and Scholarships to those working in the footwear industry. There are no fees required, or membership needed to benefit from these services. Two Ten is committed to strengthening the footwear community with financial, social and educational support and services while nurturing community building and volunteerism.  In 2011, Two Ten fielded more than 2,000 calls and provided more than $1.24 million in financial assistance to shoe people in need. 

Two Ten provides emergency financial assistance for individuals in the footwear industry. They also send financial help within 48 hours of the first call.  Two Ten also started a scholarship program in 1969.  Since its inception, Two Ten has made it possible for 6,000 students to go to college. They’ve given out over $17 million in scholarships in that time.  Two Ten Foundation is currently in need of donations and need your help.

Atlanta Shoe Show 2013 Preparations Underway


Preparations are underway for the February 23-25, 2013 Atlanta Shoe Market show.  This show will feature the new shoe styles for Fall 2013. 


With more than 1,800 shoe lines and a reputation as “the buying show”, the Atlanta Shoe Market has become the largest and most important shoe and accessory show in America. In addition, we are the show where retailers purchase their inventories for the upcoming season which has led us to become one of the Top 4 largest shoe and accessory shows in the world!

Macy’s and Finish Line are Partnering!

Starting in the spring of 2013 worldwide retailer, Macy’s, will offer Finish Line Inc. products in more than 450 stores and online.  The deal that makes Finish Line the exclusive athletic footwear partner at Macy’s will allow Finish line to manage the entire athletic shoe selection and inventory in 225 Macy’s stores.

This deal projects to be huge boast for both Macy’s and Finish Line.  In a joint statement this past week, Finish Line expects to heighten sales by a projected $250 million to $350 million a year.

Southeast shoe buyers and vendors are seeing a sharp sales increase in shoe sales after a long hiatus. Todd Hill, VP of Hill’s Shoes is seeing a trend of people not just buying more shoes but better quality and branded. He is very optimistic about the future of the business!

One of the hottest selling items in the shoe industry is boots and it is the first time boot wearers that are buying like young teenage girls! 

There were boots galore at the recent shoe market held in Atlanta. There were many options available from ankle booties to hikers.  Many boot makers are of course trying to stay on top of the game by coming up with fresh designs and looks. So ladies, maybe you will see something unique this fall.

Massive Turnout in Atlanta for the August Spring Market!

August 20, 2012 – Atlanta, GA  . . . Even a brooding sky and mid-afternoon thunderstorms couldn't keep attendees from the August 17-19, 2012 edition of the semi-annual Atlanta Shoe Market.  For as long as anyone can remember, the Atlanta market has been growing “like crazy,” according to one retailer, and more growth was evident again this past weekend with more than 900 exhibitors and over 1,800 lines tucked into every nook and cranny throughout Atlanta’s Cobb Galleria Centre and Renaissance Waverly Hotel, and another incredible increase of 20 percent in retailer pre-registration.

“All the lines are here,” commented Ron Jacobson, owner of Shoe Visions of Amelia Island, Fla. Over his more than 40 years in the business, Jacobson has attended all the industry shows, and until recently, all the major shows each season.  “I used to go to other shows to see what’s out there, but everything’s here now.  This is the only show I need now; I don’t need to go anywhere else.”

“I love this place,” offered Bealls’ Divisional Vice President Phil Winefordner, who has been coming to Atlanta to purchase his inventories for the past 10 years.  “Everything’s under one roof, and so easy to work.  No wonder it’s grown like crazy.”

Known industry-wide as “the buying show,” where retailers and manufacturers get down to business, The Atlanta Shoe Market continues to attract increasing numbers of retailers and exhibitors because of such convenience and ease, but also because it is easy to get to and inexpensive.   

Sponsor, Southeastern Shoe Travelers Association, under the direction of show manager and association Executive Director Laura Conwell-O’Brien, continues to find new ways to keep those attributes front and center.  To make it even more convenient for attending retailers, the show, in addition to the main hall, now offers special sections for categories including children’s, high fashion, and new this year, The Work Zone featuring exclusively work and western boots.  And to keep the cost of attending low, Conwell-O’Brien started a daily lunch program for show participants that features an extensive spread of hot food for just five dollars.

The increased traffic had exhibitors as excited as the attending retailers. Kristi Paige Rockwell of Rockwell Tharp, based in Las Vegas and recently featured on NBC’s Today Show, was a first-time exhibitor, located in The Fashion Collection section.  “We’ve added a lot of new accounts,” she said, “The flow of this place is perfect.”

The Atlanta Shoe Market is held twice a year in Atlanta, Ga., to feature fall and spring styles respectively.  The show is sponsored by the Southeastern Shoe Travelers Association (SESTA), which was founded in 1942 and today counts more than 1300 industry representatives as members.

Everyone is invited to attend our “Opening Night Cocktail Party & Casino Night” at the beautiful Cobb Energy Centre.  The party will begin at 6 pm and will rununtil 9:30pm.
